that occurred in the month of April last and which was entirely owing to his own misconduct, I have the honour to enclose a copy of a letter from Mr Hayllar to Lord K*** dated 10 Sept, 1881, and a copy of a letter from Mr Hayllar to Lord K*** dated 27 Sept. 1881 - he sent today to the Acting Colonial Secretary, and a letter, in original, dated 8th of September, addressed by Mr. Hayllar to Your Lordship begging permission to withdraw his letter of the 27th of July.
Beyond referring to my covering despatch of the 27th of July which accurately describes what took place and admits of misconception, I make no further comment on this gentleman's letters (or conduct), but leave the matter in Your Lordship's hands.
